Chicken curry with homemade spice | southindian style | no coconut



Chicken curry - My family loves non veg especially in that list they really loves chicken. I just give a try to make chicken curry without adding coconut milk,coconut paste. It turned out so well for me. I freshly roast and grind the spice mixture it gives so extra flavorful to this recipe. It goes well with hot steamed rice,chapati,phulka,naan.Try this flavorful chicken curry at your kitchen and let me know how it turned out for you in a comment section.

Ingredients:

Chicken - 500 g
Onion - 2 (chopped)
Tomato - 2 (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste - 1 1/2 paste
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Kulambu powder (mix of chilly and coriander powder ) - 1 1/2 tbsp
salt a required 
water - 1/2 cup
oil - 3 tbsp

For spice mixture:

Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
Cloves - 4
Cardamon - 2
Cumin seed - 3/4 tbsp
Fennel seed - 1 tbsp
Pepper corn - 1 tbsp
Poppy seed - 1/2 tsp (optional)

Instructions:

Wash and clean the chicken
Dry roast the ingredients cinnamon,cloves,cardamon,cumin seed,fennel seed,pepper corn in a medium flame


Transfer to blender,add poppy seed(optional) blend this as fine powder


Add oil,bay leaf once it fried,add chopped onion saute well until it become translucent


Now add ginger garlic paste saute well until raw smell goes away


Add chopped tomatos saute until it get soft and mushy


Add turmeric powder,chilly powder saute for 5 mins,add chicken coat them well with masala


After that add that spice mixture and salt,mix them well and finally add 1/2 cup water


Close the lid let it cook for 20 mins in a medium flame


After 20 mins add chopped coriander leaves


Now its ready to serve
